About Books and Music Exchange The Moneytree Book & Music Exchange began in 1971 in Owensboro, Ky as a small clothing consignment store. David and Anita Osborne started it with a total investment of $200. Over the next five years, the store evolved to include all types of consignment items including books and records. As the book section grew, the decision was made to trade books instead of consigning them, and the same policy soon followed with records. As the book and music sections continued to expand, consignments were gradually eliminated and the store became totally a trading store with an emphasis on volume pricing. The more you buy - the cheaper the price. This concept was so successful that it was expanded to include comics, tapes, CDs, movies and video games. There are now a total of seven Moneytree or Book and Music Exchanges in the Kentucky and Indiana area. Hundreds of items are traded-in and put out for sale every day. This constantly changing stock makes for a treasure hunt atmosphere that compels many customers to stop by everyday in their quest for rare and special bargains! As a result, all seven stores have an incredible 7-day guarantee that includes the right to return CDs, tapes and video games even if you JUST DON’T LIKE THEM! This guarantee, along with the volume pricing, makes the Moneytree/Book and Music Exchange stores completely unique.
